Low interest in NAB Cup Betting?

by admin on February 14, 2010

Our previous post on NAB Cup Betting had a quick look at the odds for each team to win the ALF pre-season competition. So it was interesting to see an article on the weekend discussing the low level of interest in betting on the NAB Cup. In fact the bookie who spoke to the medai went so far as to say it has been “easily the quietest NAB Cup on record at this time of the competition” and that “Geelong and St Kilda are equal drifting favourites at $5.50, but we haven’t been able to lay them. Punters haven’t struck a blow yet.”

So is it that punters are scared off by the unknown effort of footy teams this early on in the year, or that coaches have differing care-factors in whether they win or lose NAB Cup games? Maybe it is the low level of interest in the AFL pre-season from footy fans overall, that flows through to a lack of AFL Betting until the season proper begins?
