Jack Riewoldt leading the Coleman Medal race

It was only last week that I wrote a post titled, Jack Riewoldt for the Coleman Medal looking at reasons why I think Jack Riewoldt can win the Coleman Medal this year. Maybe he was inspired by the post, or maybe he just had a great game. Either way the young Richmond full-forward stunned the AFL world today when he kicked 10 goals against West Coast in the Tiger’s Round 12 match.

Riewoldt had 13 shots on goal but was much more accurate than normal. Admittedly Richmond scored 19 goals in the match so they were well on top of the Eagles. But a 10-goal bag is an awesome effort for any player, in any footy match and Riewoldt now leads the Coleman Medal race with 45 goals so far in the 2010 season, 2 goals ahead of Barry Hall who is currently in second place.

NAB Cup Fixture Week 2

The fixture for the second week of the NAB Cup (the continuation of round one matches) is as follows:

Friday February 19
St Kilda v Collingwood at Etihad Stadium, 7.40pm

AFL Football Betting Types

AFL Football is the most watched sport in Australia and attracts a huge audience both on television and at the stadiums. Historically it has been popular on the east coast of Australia with the majority of AFL teams located in Victoria. Nowadays though, the 16 AFL footy teams are spread across the country making AFL Football a truly national sport.

During the AFL season, there are 22 rounds of matches, which equates to 176 games before the Finals Series takes place with the top 8 teams competing to be in the Grand Final held at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Grounds).

AFL Football Betting Types:

Head to Head: Punter bets on which team will win
Head to Head with Draw: The punter can decide if team will win, lose or draw with the other team.
Spread Bet: Both teams are given a handicap of either plus or minus points to make the game more even. The team with the minus amount must the game by more than the amount allocated to them. The team with the plus amount will win the game or must not lose by more than what was allocated to them.

Game Totals: The punter wagers on the combined score of both teams, whether they decide to bet over or under this amount.

Margin Betting: The punter wagers against a margin of points that a team must win by. The winning margin is determined by the bookmaker.

Future Bets: The punter selects which team will win either a specific game in the series or even the Grand Final winner.

Exotics: These bets can be a lot harder but are also a lot more fun and challenging for the punter to decide.

Multiple Betting/Parlays: Punters can make multiple bets on the one game

Brownlow Medal betting: The Brownlow medal is awarded to the “best and fairest” player of the regular AFL season (not including finals matches). Get in early in the season for the best Brownlow Medal odds.

Coleman Medal Betting: The Coleman medal is awarded to the highest goal scorer of the AFL season.
